A rare side effect seen due to the use of apixaban: Palmoplantar psoriasiform drug eruption

چکیده
Psoriasiform drug eruptions are very rare and generally characterized as erythematous, thick, dry, squamous, and demarcated plaques, resembling those of idiopathic psoriasis (1). Drugs may result in the exacerbation of pre-existing psoriasis or initiation of de novo psoriatic lesions (2). Apixaban, a reversible direct inhibitor factor Xa, is a novel anticoagulant, and its side effects mainly include clinically relevant major and non-major bleeding. Although <1% of patients receiving apixaban develop hypersensitivity reactions (including skin rash and anaphylactic reactions such as allergic edema) (3), there is no published case report demonstrating a psoriasiform drug eruption associated with apixaban. We report a psoriasiform drug eruption induced by apixaban. A rare side effect seen due to the use of apixaban: Palmoplantar psoriasiform drug eruption

Concurrence of palmoplantar psoriasiform eruptions and hair loss during carbamazepine treatment.
Sir, The anti-convulsant drug carbamazepine may induce generalized exanthema or, less frequently, severe cutaneous eruptions, such as hypersensitivity syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis. The development of psoriasiform eruptions and the exacerbation of pre-existing psoriasis have been recognized as common adverse reactions to beta-blockers, lithium and antimalarials (1). Additional causativ...
متن کاملA Rare Case of Fixed Drug Eruption due to Ondansetron
AbstractFixed drug eruption (FDE) is a unique type of cutaneous drug reaction that typically recurs in the identical locations on re-exposure to the attributed drug. FDE is characterized by the appearance of a single or multiple sharply demarcated violaceous erythematous plaques which heal with residual hyperpigmentation. A 27-year-old woman presented with multiple dark patches over her eyelids...

Background: Cutaneous drug reaction is a common side effect of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). In recent years, a significant increase in cases of cutaneous drug reaction due to AEDs and some changes in its pattern in our department have been noticed. Therefore, we carried out this study to present clinical and paraclinical characteristics of these cases. Methods: All records of patients who were h...
متن کاملPsoriasiform Drug Eruption Caused by Abatacept: Immunohistochemical Investigation of STAT Signaling
Abatacept is a biological immune modifier that is used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Although psoriasiform drug eruption is reported as one of the cutaneous adverse effects of abatacept, the precise mechanisms are not fully understood. In this report, we describe a 65-year-old Japanese man with psoriasiform drug eruption caused by abatacept. Interestingly, immunohistochemical stain...
متن کاملLichenoid drug eruption with palmoplantar hyperkeratosis due to imatinib mesylate: a case report and a review of the literature.
Cutaneous adverse effects of imatinib mesylate (Glivec) are common and various types of skin eruptions have been reported. We report here a 57-year-old man who presented with lichen planus-like lesions on his extremities and palmoplantar hyperkeratosis due to the use of imatinib mesylate for chronic myeloid leukaemia. The skin lesions improved after discontinuation of imatinib mesylate but re-a...
